Under National Health and Safety laws, any person doing construction work in Australia must have successfully completed a general OHS construction induction course for the industry before they start work in any construction activity.

The certificate is compulsory for each person as proof of completion of the "OHS General Induction for Construction Work " training.

The course is aimed at all workers carrying out construction work, including: self-employed persons, labourers, apprentices, trades-persons, supervisors and project managers. Students will learn the basic principles of health and safety in the construction industry as well as information about preventing workplace injury and illness, workplace injury management and workers compensation.
